Colorado’s $1,000 e-bike rebate is in a live registration window

Income-qualified residents can register for a point-of-sale rebate. The window cited on the program page includes Aug 24–31, 2026. A separate $225 tax-credit discount is open to any resident.

The rebate

Official table from the Colorado Energy Office:

Eligible e-bikes must meet independent UL certification standards. The bike must be certified to UL 2849 or EN 15194, and feature a UL certification logo. Motor 750 W or less. The $225 tax-credit discount

Separate program: $225 upfront discount at participating retailers, one per calendar year per resident. Can be stacked with the rebate if the retailer is in both programs. Same UL 2849 or EN 15194 requirement, 750 W or less, Class 1–3 definition as of August 2025.

No federal credit. Do not expect an IRS consumer e-bike tax credit. As of this writing there is no enacted federal credit we can attach to an IRS.gov or Congress.gov page. State programs are the ones that pay.

Bikes we currently list that mention UL 2849 on the brand page: Specialized Turbo Vado SL 2 4.0 EQ, Turbo Creo 2 Comp, and Aventon Level 3 Step-Through. See the e-bike buyer guide.
