Best commuter e-scooters, 2026
Four current US kick scooters we can actually source: Segway’s MAX G3 at national retail, two NIU KQi folders, and Apollo’s City 2.0 which is still on pre-order for Q4 2026.
How to read this. Range, speed, and wattage below are manufacturer or retailer claims. Check local speed caps before you buy. Apollo already blocks New York shipping because the City 2.0 lists 32 mph.
Segway Ninebot MAX G3
US flagship of Segway’s third-generation MAX line. Still listed at Best Buy on Aug 30, 2026. Do not mix this with European MAX G3 E listings that cap speed at 25 km/h.

NIU KQi 200F
20 mph class folder with a collapsible handlebar. NIU listed UL 2272 on the product page. April 2025 launch copy said the related KQi 200P would also sell at Best Buy; 200F was described as online-only at NIU.com.

Apollo City 2.0
New 2026 City platform. Pre-orders opened July 2, 2026; shipping expected Q4 2026. UL 2271 and UL 2272 listed. Apollo is not shipping this scooter to New York State because top speed exceeds 20 mph.

Certification language we use for kick scooters is UL 2272 (and UL 2271 when the pack is called out). The CPSC notice of proposed rulemaking would make modified versions of those standards mandatory. It is not a final rule.
